Goat Shoot at Coronet Peak

Fri/Sat 10th & 11th Dec 2021

Join the annual "Coronet Peak Station Goat Shoot"

Where
We have permission from Coronet Peak Station to shoot goats further into the station this year.
(If you are not familiar with the station, it extends right from Skippers Canyon to Arrowtown, Macetown, over the Mototapu and the back of Wanaka.)

This year, weather permitting we are looking to drive in via Macetown and stay and camp around the 8 mile hut overnight on the Friday and Saturday night.

Transport
If you have not been to Macetown before, the track is rough, there are some river crossings (and big holes in the river) so a snorkle and 4WD experience is required.

We are looking to arrange for experienced 4WD drivers to take members that don't have suitable vehicles. And if there are not enough drivers, we can charter Nomads 4WD company to take us in.

Leaving when?
At the meeting everyone indicated different preferences when they wanted to leave,  so please complete the questions in the registration so we can organise lifts and transport.

Some people have said they want to head in Friday morning and some after work on the Friday and a few can't go till Sat morning.

The plan is to leave Sunday morning as the club Xmas BBQ and party will be held that day from 2pm (ish) at Sharon's place in Lake Hayes Estate.
See XMAS Event for further details on the Sunday function

What to take
You will need to take a tent and camping gear as there is limited space in the hut. And plenty of ammo, in the past, members have run out when they have come across a large mob of goats.

New members
If you need to borrow a rifle, please ask in the comments

If you are still waiting on your licence, we can put you with other members, all members and levels of experience welcome

Health and Safety
There will be a health and safety plan which everyone will need to read and sign before we head in.
Due to insurance, you need to be a current paid up member.
(Join on 1st Dec and only $40 for 3 months membership)

Covid Passport

We are unsure of how Covid Vax passport requirements effect trips like this, so please be aware it may affect those without a covid passport.
You will however need to be double vaxed if you need to take the charter transport with Nomad Safaris.
