The ladies had a blast and learned so much hunting tahr together the last few years, we're looking forward to this next all-women hunting trip.
18 spots are open for female NZDA members to assemble on the shores of Lake Pukaki just south of beautiful Mount Cook for a weekend of tahr hunting, food and fun. Well-trained hunting dogs are allowed to come too with prior notice.
Trip accommodation is the shearers quarters at Ferintosh Station and we will have access to cross private land into the public hunting Ruataniwha Conservation Area. We will have blocks and maps organised for safe hunting and hopefully take advantage of "low-vember" when the tahr come a bit lower to feed.
General Itinerary
Friday 11th – Registration opens at 6pm, Safety briefing and block/buddy allocation at 8pm.
Saturday 12th – Hunting from sunrise, assemble back at lodge in the evening for yarns and BYO dinner.
Sunday 13th – Those super keen can head out hunting again. Otherwise late breakfast, enjoy Mount Cook or go fishing in the canals on the way home.
We have run this for a couple of years now and things we have learnt are that this may not be the event for absolute beginners to hunting, but this would be an amazing space to break your teeth on your first Tahr however :)
