Kids RABBIT SHOOT WEEKEND

This is a great chance to take a kid that has never hunted or shot game before or for those a bit older to hone up their shooting skills.

When: 17th & 18th Sept 2022

Where: Staying at Dunstan Downs backpackers we will be shooting some of the time at Quailburn flat and the rest on Ribbonwood Station about a 20 min drive from the Backpackers

When: Saturday 17th & 18th September

What to Bring: Food and rifles for rabbit shooting, Bedding is provided at the accommodation

Cost:  $95 for 1 adult and 1 kid (under 18)

Due to safety, we require 1 adult per rifle/shooting kid so if you bring 2 kids, only 1 rifle please.

$45 for 2nd child which goes towards backpackers and organisation costs.

Details: Please arrive for a 10am briefing at the Dunstan Downs Backpackers. We will then share rides to Ribbonwood station.

As we are shooting some of the time on Quailburn flat (Public Conservation Land) only centre fire rifles plus there is some good long range shooting to be had, the rest of the time will be on station land so 22 and shotguns are good to go.

We will travel 20 minutes to the station then it takes 30 minutes to get to the main hunting area where we can use 4x4 to get around however when on Public Conservation Land, we have to walk but it is flat but can be a few KMs.

We will have lunch in the field both days but travel back for food Saturday night then out for a night shoot for those keen and set up to do so safely.
There will also be the opportunity to shoot on the Sunday morning too.

There is no cell service at the accommodation or on the hunting area, there is however wifi at the accommodation.

Bring plenty of centre fire ammo and make sure you transport and store firearms and ammo as per the new law.

Permits: These are required as we are shooting next to public conservation land,  please make sure you have the correct DOC open hunting permit for the "Eastern South Island, Canterbury Areas "
