We are now nearly finished working with the Backcountry Trust to do a full maintenance job at the Freeman Burn hut on the edge of Lake Manapouri in Fiordland.
We have a water taxi departing Manapouri Friday 3rd June at 4.30pm Share rides can be organised from Queenstown. (A Saturday morning boat departure possible if enough require that)
Back on Monday 6th June around lunchtime If you are keen to go, please register (as food is supplied) Background Information
As well as doing the building work, it is situated in the Fiordland National Park which is open hunting all year round.
Like many of these projects that we have done in the past, it not only gives members the opportunity to do something for the community, but it also give members a fun few days in some stunning National Park. You'll get a chance to do some hunting and get to meet other club members. (There also tends to be some great story telling and smiles over a beverage at the end of a hard days work. )
The Freeman Burn hut is located at the mouth of the Freeman Burn on the North Arm of Lake Manapouri. Access is by boat (or water taxi) so we will arrange shared transport although also looking for members with boats to help with getting materials and members there. We do have a fuel allowance as part of the grant.
