Secretary/Editors Note

Welcome to Spring and the start of a busy few months ahead.

New members: We have had nearly 50 new members join us this year (and lost a few to the new branch in Alexandra) and the club has a very full and exciting event calendar coming up. See below or check out the website

HUNTS Course: Although the weather didn't play out as expected, we ran a successful Hunts course (photos below)

Conference: President Andy, and joint Vice presidents Al and Katie along with HUNTS co-ordinator Pete attended the NZDA national conference in Hamilton back in July. Katie presented at conference a video on the successful ladies hunts she has been running twice a year.

Elections: I have emailed all the candidates for their stance on hunting and hopefully will have that back and communicated before the 8th Oct. This is our chance to vote in a "hunting friendly" mayor and council.

Previous newsletters: No you haven't missed any emails or newsletters, with a trip to the US and UK the editor (Sharon) took a break over Winter - last one was emailed July.

July Newsletter

Safety equipment to hire: We were successful with our application for a $6500 community grant from QLDC. The money has been put towards stoat traps and safety equipment. With the money, we recently purchased 5 x PLB and Garmin in-reach for club trips

These will be available to borrow from Sharon by members for FREE

HUNTS Course 2022

Congratulations to everyone that completed the HUNTS course and welcome to the new members from the course!

Certificates will be presented at the meeting once Katie (in the USA at the moment) and Melissa (on maternity leave) are back on board.

Reminders for All Hunters

As these items need attention every 3 or 4 months, I put the reminder out at every change of season so as it is Spring it's that time again

Open area hunting permits are not only important and a requirement for the public conservation areas you hunt in, they are a good way for us to show how many hunters there are out there.

Renew Hunting Permit

The Animal Harvest Tally is a branch initative to gather a record of animals our club members have shot to show our contribution to conservation and animal management.
Please take 5 mins to enter your details/ shooting returns.

Thanks

NZDA membership apps

There are 2 types of apps available:-

1. The national NZDA app which you can use to access all things nationally NZDA

1) Go to Google play or the Apple store and search for NZDeerstalkers. Select Install or GET.
2) Once installed, either open via the app or click open. Once in the app, you will need to register - Click Register Here.
3) Enter your membership details into the fields and click Create. You will then be able to access the App and the Member discounts. Enjoy!

2. Club membership app (Wild Apricot - links below)

As we use an automated membership system called WildApricot, you can view our own branch member directory and member profiles.

You can search by member for their email, phone number and skills. At anytime you can hide your own information.

Try a search for who is a Douglas scorer and who does their own reloading for example.

On the desktop the filter is much easier but on the mobile you just search for RELOAD or DOUGLAS to find these members
